FOUNDER'S STORY
Leighton began traveling at the tender age of one and moved through 8 homes before being orphaned in his teens. He's survived boat stranding, cliff falls and snake collaring (ask him) with skills learned from his father, a US Navy destroyer captain.
Leighton founded Bespoke after senior leadership roles on Madison Avenue and in management consulting where he worked on global travel brands. He directed teams for the world's largest interactive ad agency, Omnicom's Agency.com, and managed world headquarters in New York City. He's launched everything from the first LasVegas.com to booking engines and from Stephen King horror novels to kitty litter for Proctor & Gamble. It was at Agency.com that Leighton pioneered ideas about digital marketing and consumer profiling. He holds records for ecommerce that remain unbroken today. Leighton speaks frequently and advises Meta, Linked In and sits on TripAdviser's Hotel Council.
As a side hustle, Leighton bought a boarding house in Oak Bluffs, Marthas Vineyard and, after a gut renovation, relaunched the Victorian-era property as a boutique hotel, Hotel Ginger.
He continues to travel extensively. He's also five states away from visiting all 50 US states and four islands away from touring every Caribbean destination. While you will often find him on Nantucket's cobblestone streets, his Instagram account will pinpoint his current location.
ERIN ALLEN, PARTNER
Erin's wanderlust took hold early. She was a frequent flyer before she could walk, flying monthly to visit her grandmother at Warner Brothers, Hollywood. Treated like royalty, Erin absorbed the power of storytelling from her grandmother and the studio system in the canteens, on sets and behind them.
Erin danced first in her home state of New Mexico before testing her talent in New York City. Like many, Erin paid her dues old school: balancing the grit of training and auditions with the hustle of the restaurant world. For over a decade Erin lived the epicenter of Park Avenue hospitality. From Jerry Seinfeld to Howard Stern, ask her about her best and worst "you had to be there" moments from front of the house to behind. Like many athletes, Erin faced her age-based retirement by pivoting to one of her passions: travel.
"Travel, an ever-present theme of my life, has carried me to exotic Tahiti, the mists of Ireland, the architecture of England, the romance of Paris, the drama of the Rockies and hauntingly charm of Savannah and Charleston. In 2022 alone, I took 22 flights. Bliss!"
Joining Bespoke House marked the convergence of Erin's passions. Working under founder Leighton Collis was a master class in the business of travel and, more importantly, the business of people. She loves to connect with our clients and is personally invested in their success and stories. Erin loves nothing more than absorbing everything about a location and property in order to make it irresistible to new guests. Expect grit and determination from Erin and a rare ability to tell a new story about places that thousands have written about.
"My spirit thrives in the realm of writing, travel, and beyond," she says.
AGENCY DAYS
As an agency, our team comes from a variety of backgrounds and experience sets. From traditional marketing agencies to nonprofit development, ecommerce, journalism, web development and higher ed, those collective experiences are synthetized in the Bespoke approach. We're all reading different blogs, following different trends, and toying with a variety of new apps on our smartphones. Once a week, we bring those perspectives together for our weekly share session. Bespoke Share is a rapid–fire aggregation of what we're reading, watching, learning and listening.
It happens around the long table in our studio—minds from every corner of our workflow come together to share relevant, interesting, game–changing items from the Internet of Things. One of us might present a scorching hot hashtag while another shares a website with design elements we admire. Together, we weigh the merits and functional applications of these items and put them to work in client strategy. An animated photo collage from a high fashion retailer inspires activity panels on a boutique inn's website. A new Google Analytics tool becomes a core component of our content strategy.
Digital trends don't shift year–to–year. Patterns move week–to–week. From brand stories to industry reports, these insights are best delivered from minute to minute. Checking in on Fridays keeps our fingers to the pulse of new marketing opportunities, thought leadership, and social media sensations.
